I imported a pdf form I created into livecycle to add checkboxes. Livecycle automatically placed the checkmark boxes where I wanted them, however, once I PDF the form, the checkmark boxes appear as little "blue boxes" and are aligned on the right side of the cell. How can I get the "blue box" to expand so it sits in the entire cell? As of right now, you have to click exactly on the "blue box" to get a checkmark. I want to be able to click anywhere within the cell to get the checkmark. Is this possible?

I've attached  a screenshot that will better explain what I mean.

Melissa,
I don't know of a way to do that.

Select each of the check box in designer and increase the width to match the area size.
If you want the check box to remain the same size. Try right and left alignment.
Note - you cannot bulk select the check boxes in different rows due to parent constraints.

Melissa,
There are limited things you can do. Because a checkbox is square - in order to increase the checkbox size, the height of the row may also have to increase.
To increase the size of the checkbox in the Object palette>Cell Tab>Size  (default is 10pt).  In my example screenshot - the large checkbox is 40pt. If the column width remains significantly wider than the checkbox width, the box will be right aligned (no caption) or left aligned (with caption).  The user will have to click the actual check box to select it.

The only other option is to place a button in the same table cell. Make the button have no color, and no caption.  Then set the click action to select or deselect the checkbox.  Note: this is not recommended if your form needs to be accessible to persons with disabilities.  The visual appearance and the functionality don't match, so use with caution.

If business requirements allow the form to be redesigned a little, have you considered an alternate layout to the multiple pass/fail columns? Say a drop-down list instead?
Screenshot below, and sample PDF attached.
Hope this helps some.
Angie

Hi Melissa,

Like all things in Lifecycle, there is always a workaround. Please see the attached, it allows you to click anywhere in the checkbox as you wanted. It's a bit fiddly but if you look at the code you'll see what I mean.

Best

Ed
