We have had a tough time with AEM 6.3 ever since we did the install (previously used LS ES4).

Soon after installation last year, we started having issues where forms could not be invoked, everything would time out.  upon restarting Jboss, we would get errors like this:

09:00:19,236 ERROR [com.adobe.formServer.common.ServiceUtil] (IDPSchedulerService_Worker-4) ALC-FRM-001-801: FS Config EJB could not be initialized.

09:18:58,167 ERROR [com.adobe.formServer.PA.XMLFormAgentWrapper] (http-/0.0.0.0:80-4) ALC-FRM-001-013: XMLFormFactory, PAexecute failure: "java.lang.NullPointerException"

JBoss starts, but forms still could not be invoked (timeout issues).   The odd thing is... when this happens..  no matter what we do we do not get a clean start-up.  We have restarted the physical server, stopped/restarted JBoss etc to no avail.    Our IT department says there is nothing going on during the times when we have the issues (McAfee scans, maintenance,  etc)

The craziest part of it is... after about 10-12 hrs...  we can start JBoss without errors...  and everything works.

We have had a couple tickets open with Adobe support.  The 1st one "resolved itself" after the 10-12 hr time period passed.    The latest one has been open for 4+ months since it happened a few more times since the original ticket.

Right now the current suggestion is to possibly move to AEM 6.4 or 6.5... or move to an OSGi install.

Has anyone experienced anything like this with AEM?

Is anyone else using an OSGi install?    We have only done JBoss installs for LC/AEM... we wonder what differences there are with install/standard maintenance etc.

Any feedback is always appreciated!

Thanks.

Our IT department looked at it and I'm not really sure why they told me to stick with ES4 other than issues around VM. I hope you find the answers.

I wish we could have stayed with ES4.  For 6+yrs we had little hiccups, but nothing major happen.  But in Nov/Dec 2018 we had a server compromised by what was thought to be a sling vulnerability, possibly caused by an older version of JBoss.  It turns out that it was not the Adobe Software that caused the vulnerability, however, our internal IT department wanted us to upgrade to the latest Version of the Adobe software with the most recently supported versions of JBoss and Java.

Jeff:

What is your exact server environment?

I have found OSGi to be OK but prefer jBoss myself.
