I have created a form in PDF format on LiveCycle Designer. However,
how do I format the form so that when someone fills in the
information, they can save a completed form on their computer. When
they try to save it, it says only a blank copy can be saved on their
computer. I have not selected anything in the security part of the
document. It must be set by default. how do I change that so a
completed copy can be saved on someone's computer???

Did you try to save with Acrobat or you were trying to save
with Reader?

I suppose you were using Reader because it gives you an option
to save a Blank copy! ;-)
If you want to save the copy with the Reader you must use LC Reader
Extension (ARES). This server product enables some specific Acrobat
features to be used in Reader (only for the form enabled in ARES).

If you have Acrobat8, you do not need to use ARES if you want some
basic features for the form to be used in Reader (save, dig.
signature..)
Try it under -> Advanced -> Enable Usage Rights in Adobe Reader

As Stipe said, the free Adobe Reader does NOT allow you to save any
data you typed into the form. You have to either have Adobe Acrobat
(standard or professional) or leverage a server based product called
Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions. If you want to use Reader
Extensions, you design your form and save it as a PDF from Designer.
You would then run your form through the Reader Extension Server to
add the necessary rights that you want to enable and they will get
stored in the form. You can then give the form to whoever you need to
and even if they have the free Adobe Reader, they will be able to save
the form with any data they typed into it. LiveCycle Reader
Extensions is another product you would have to purchase from Adobe
(http://www.adobe.com/products/server/readerextensions/).

I'm using Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional. the form is designed in
LiveCycle Designer. It does not have an "advanced" option??? Where
do I find that??

Could you please check the menu at the Acrobat?
Among File, Edit, View you'll find Advanced menu...
If you still can not find it, I'll send you a screen shot.. :-)

1again, check the Acrobat, not LC Designer..
