Hi All,

I am getting this message when I try to convert a Word file (.doc) to
PDF via the AdminUI. Error Message: ALC-PDG-010-012-PDFMaker reported
an error while printing the document.

The first go around I am able to convert the document but then after
that I am unable to and that's when I get that error messaged.
(Sometimes I am able to convert it 2-3 times before it errors out on
me.)

I have opened up Acrobat and word and confirmed that nothing is pops
up.

If I were to restart the server, it would work again the first 1-3
times and then start erroring out.

Here is the Error Log:

I have also confirmed that I can launch MS Word and create a pdf from
MS Word with no issues.

Can you send me the word doc and I can test it on another
implementation? It looks like it might be related to the way that the
document object is not being written out properly. If the document
works for conversion with MS Word, I can only assume that it is either
an issue specific to the process or a bug on the weblogic build. I'd
like to eliminate it being a general LC ES issue by trying a jBoss
conversion.

Hi Duane,

Thanks for the speedy response. The file is attached to this email. It's just a test document I use to make sure that everything is working properly.

The funny thing is that in my WebLogic clustered environment with 2 servers, that document converts just fine. When I had a standalone WebLogic 9.2 App Server with LiveCycle 8.0 deployed to it, that document also converted just fine also.

Once again Duane, thanks for your assistance.

Regards,

Ikhide Akhigbe.

Hmm – just got an ALC-PDG-001-001.  I think I have to ensure the user has permissions but will check logs files first.

Glad it is resolved.  Did you get the the root problem?  Was it a corrupt install of Acrobat Pro?

See that's the thing. I didn't install the Adobe Acrobat, so I don't
know what transpired during the initial install. The guy that usually
installs Acrobat to the servers delegated the duty to somebody else
who is kind of notorious for not caring lol.

All in all, all I can think is that something happened during the
install that was probably ignored.

This is good then. Hopefully the next person who googles the error code will find this and read it.

It might have been that the Acrobat was installed by another person so admin for Acrobat was different and admin for LC was you.. so when you actually reinstaled Acrobat.. It was under your account.. So the problem got solved.. Thats a ver common issue faces with PDFG.

Hmm... I could see how that would be an issue. In the past I used to have somebody else install Acrobat for me and we were all members of the admin group on the server. I will definitely take note of this and make sure we don't encounter this issue in the future. Thanks Anirudh
