Greetings,
Hopefully, the extra two weeks we've had to review the current plans
for 430 Main/429 Beale have provided an opportunity for us to figure
out the points each of us wants to make when we get our 2-3 minutes of
public comments at the Planning Commission meeting this Thursday.
The agenda appears online:
http://sfgov.org/site/planning_page.asp?id=101890
I would not be shocked if hte items for 430 Main (12a. and 12b.) did
not come up until 3pm or so. Please plan on being at the meeting for
the entire afternoon and a little bit into the evening.
Bring a pen and notepad to take note of anything said during the
hearing that you'd like to dispute or support.
When you arrive at City Hall, you will go through a metal detector.
You can take the elevator to get to Room 400. When allowed into Room
400, please find and take 2 speaker's cards, fill in item 12a. (for
the exceptions requested) on one speaker's card and item 12b. (for the
variances) on a second speaker's card (though this second item may or
may not even allow public comment - it seems like the zoning
administrator guy just blesses everything with a rubber stamp). When
your speaker's cards are called, head up to the microphone, calmly
explain why you object to the current design and point out relevant
Objectives and Policies of the Rincon Hill Plan that you believe
prohibits the current design from being allowed for 430 Main, and
anything else you believe will be persuasive to get the Commissioners
to say "hold on a minute, they have a point ... let's kick this back
to the developer to work with BayCrest more and mitigate the negative
impact on BayCrest's open space areas."
Watch for another email with additional suggestions. If you have
anything you'd like me to share, please email me at

"bulletin board" for information you can post to share.
By the way, there's a Rincon Hill Neighborhood Association meeting on
Tuesday at 6pm at One Rincon Hill's Hospitality Room. Our guest
speaker is Carl Nolte from the Chronicle.

Thank you for joining me in holding the Planning Department
accountable for the Rincon Hill Plan's many objectives and policies
discussing LIVABILITY in addition to maximizing housing as the
neighborhood transitions back to a residential area.
See you on Thursday at City Hall, Room 400 at 1:30pm,
