Iam trying to set up my parents' new car. They live in Europe and drive a 2022 Dacia Sandero Stepway III. The car comes with the CarPlay feature but for some reason it keeps getting disconnected and I cannot figure out why. It connects, but after a few minutes it disappears, and you need to unplug the phone and plug it back. l I used two iPhone 12 Pro and two iPhone 13 minis, all are updated, iOS 16.2. I tried all the tricks that I could find online, and nothing works. The car has the most updated system version. The Bluetooth connection seems to be fine. It's the USB cable connection that is causing issues. BTW, I just bought a brand-new Apple cable. Anyone in a similar situation?

I don't think so that's the reason. In my Dacia Logan III 2022 (same head unit) car I have tried with 2x iPhone 13 Pro and every 2 3 minutes wired connection get dropped. With iPhone 11 is working just fine.

With wireless adaptor for CarPlay is working fine even with my 13 Pro, but with wireless connection I have issues with the connection at the beginning, when entering the car (black screen and so on, might be the adaptor)

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're having trouble with CarPlay on your parents Dacia Sandero Stepway III and so far, none of the troubleshooting steps you've tried have helped.

Does CarPlay come installed from the manufacturer or are they using an aftermarket radio? We ask, because we don't see the vehicle listed on the official website: iOS - CarPlay - Available Models - Apple

On two phones with iOS 17, iPhone 13. I am able to connect to media display, cable or wireless, on iPhone It shows that CarPlay is connected, but on the car screen nothing appears, apart just standard Bluetooth phone connection.

It worked with an iPhone 7 and 11 for me as well...but not with newer than those. Apple released a new software update recently, but my parents don't care very much for the feature and I don't think they will bother to test if it's working unless I walk them through the steps. I didn't think about trying the wireless charger.

Hey, got also this issue with Dacia Jogger. Waiting for reply from Dacia HQ from Romania (written letter posted as registered letter, physical one). If they will confirm that they new the problem before selling the car and still sold you a car, and if you live in EU (sorry, no idea how other markets works) technically you can give your car back or demand free upgrade. Will see. From what I know problem exists also in Renault (Megane mostly) and in some South Korean copies of these cars.

Problem does not exist in Germany, Austria and Switzerland from what I know. These are 1st class markets and if they will put such equipment in one of these markets they could face serious problems... then... you can make your opinion on your own.

I emailed Dacia and they ignored my email. :)) Your answer is giving me some hope. I might be able to check it soon as I will visit my parents and I also bought a new cable from an Apple store...We shall see.

As I mentioned above, according to the Apple website the CarPlay feature is not supported in Romania. I believe it is supported in the countries you listed. My issue with Renault Dacia is...why add the feature if you know it might not properly work? Honestly, I didn't know it came with it until the Sales Rep mentioned it and I got excited because personally I use it and it would have bothered me if it didn't work. My parents on the other hand forget to plug their phone to charge, so they don't care as much. :)

I have the same problem with my iPhone 12. What i got new software for my Dacia media Display (6.0.9.9) but that did not solve the issue. The only thing that helpt so far is tot put a car relais between the lightning cable, a power step down adaptor did not do the trick. According to my car dealer the issue is that the usb port gives too much power to my iPhone. with the relais installed you can use CarPlay with the cable, but it will not charge the phone. I a had a replaced car for a day, because of maintains. It was also the same type sandero, only the media display software was 6.0.9.7 and my phone worked fine!

I got one for free from Dacia: =IwAR3sMFeyOqD3lTVhC8VMU_J7OGfMkZYMQiCTU1YFqfZrrpN2jAlIzwZDCUg after I talked with authorities in Romania, because in brochure when I ordered the car there was "wireless replication" :)
