Iam writing an email in German to an old friend, a colleague from a former job. I am trying to set up a meeting with him when I am going to be in town. I'd like to say that it would be great to catch up and find out how he has been over the past few years. What is the proper way to say the verb "to catch up" in German in this context?
I don't know of any particular German verb that I would use for that. There is "[sich gegenseitig] auf den neuesten Stand bringen" but this sounds a bit formal/businesslike IMO (I would use that to describe a briefing at work about the current situation).
Everyone should check if they have had the nationally recommended vaccinations, and consult a medical professional in case any catch-ups are needed. This may involve looking at vaccination records or the vaccination schedules in place when the person was born. For some diseases, such as varicella (chickenpox) and rubella, it is also possible to do a test to check if the person is immune.
Catch-up vaccination programmes for specific diseases may be organised. For example, due to an increasing number of measles cases among teenagers and young adults, catch-up programmes exist in a number of EU/EEA countries for people who may have missed the measles vaccination when they were younger or are too old to have received it as a child.
The declension of the noun Catch (catch wrestling, catch) is in singular genitive Catch and in the plural nominative -. The noun Catch is declined with the declension endings -/-. It does not form plurals. The voice of Catch is neutral and the article "das". Here you can not only inflect Catch but also all German nouns. if(Rahmen.breite()

For months, their vessels could not leave port due to the ongoing ban on catching cod - a restrictive measure that scientists deem necessary to save collapsing stock populations in several European seas.
