LITweetup Helps 2011

Hi folks, I want to start and end this message with a thank you; first off thank you for your help with last years LITweetup Helps Food Drive.

I'm sending you this message because you were part of the organizing committee mailing list for LITweetup Helps 2010 and I could really use your help this year with the food drive. If you'd like to get off this list, I totally understand, please just go back to google groups and remove yourself or call me at 516-882-7712 and yell at me & I'll figure out how to get you off.

Here's the story

I was feeling a little distressed and disappointed about 2 weeks ago because I was out of time and out of ideas on how to make LITweetup Helps happen this year. It's the first year that not only do I have client work to do, but I'm also in the middle of scheduling and selling our first SocialSchool classes. Anyway, I brought this up to Lindsey at WordHampton and she came up with the idea of combining LITweetup Helps into Long Island Restaurant Week (LIRW). Huge Win, if it could be pulled off. 

Good News: Lindsey pulled it off and got 5 restaurants to participate!

Less Good News: The press release just went out Monday and the LIRW starts next week!

What I'm asking

I'm not entirely crazy (just partly) (ok, mostly), I know that it's not realistic to expect everyone on this list to be able to to physically make it to the tweetups with less than a week's notice (although I really, really hope you'll consider it).  I think we all agree how important Island Harvest's work is in helping hungry people not go hungry, so I'm asking you please, to help in any way you can to spread the word.

1. There are 5 tweetups (one at each restaurant), but more importantly, each restaurant is going to be collecting food all week long. Please, could you tweet, blog, post on FB and G+ and just generally go overboard talking about the food drive to your audiences.
   
2. If you are able to make one of the tweetups, please RSVP on the FB event page and promote the heck out of that location.
3. If you're insane, um, extremely committed, and you're able to help me coordinate a particular location, I will be eternally grateful and I'll owe you a drink or a coffee or a luxury vehicle or something.
4. In order to secure this relationship for next year, when it will be huge, could you please say anything nice that you feel is appropriate about the restaurants that are helping out. ie: 'Very impressed by the generosity of @restaurant for hosting #LITweetup Helps. http://link.somewhere.com"

Any and every thing you do to help is greatly appreciated, even if it's just wishing us well on a crazy adventure.  Thank you so much!

Jeff's daily paper today, LOL

Thanks Lisa! Please do keep spreading the word, I know we're (insanely) tight on time, but this is a remarkable and well connected group of people. Let's just keep pushing it out there.
