Hey folks, for those of you who haven't yet heard, we're hooking up with
mydunktank.com to add an online/offline element to the event. If you're not sure what it is think of it this way:
Church / community fairs often use a dunktank to raise money. It's literally a big pool of (cold) water with a platform over it where someone volunteers to sit. The publice pays money to get a chance to throw a baseball at a target and dunk the volunteer in the water
why does it work? Because people love to laugh.
mydunktank.com has been able to translate the same experience to the online world.
Here's an example of one of George's friends using it and here's
another example of a team that is raising money for a little girl.
I applied last night to see if they would accept us to use the site. Their response is attached; this will be awesome! Please let me know if you're willing to do something. So far we have:
- Jean (@toomz) will be signing Lady Gaga (or probably something else) on camera
- George (@UrbanJibaro): "help feed LI and I will feed you" He'll be giving going to a lucky donor's house to cook his world famous Jibarito Sandwiches
- I (@namnum) will be wearing a chicken suit. (Just kidding, no idea what I'm doing yet)
Thanks,
Jeff

Subject: Ideas for LITweetup Helps
To:
je...@namnum.bizHi Jeff - Just received your MyDunkTank submission about LITweetup Helps and did some reading on your website. We'd love to help! Island Harvest seems like a great cause and I've had a great time at Tweetups in Philly.
Here are some fundraising options that would be a blast. We can discuss in detail by phone:
1. Dares at the different tweetups - Our traditional format which I'm sure you saw on the site
2. Dareoke - A bunch of people each volunteer to sing a karaoke song. Their friends and family vote with donations in the weeks before the event. Here's
an example.
3. Heroween - People who don't want to sing or do a dare can dedicate their Halloween costume to Island Harvest. Their friends and family select their Halloween costume by voting with donations. See some
individuals doing Heroween.
I'd love to chat about what makes the most sense for the LITweetups Helps. Just let me know some times that work for a quick call. Or feel free to call me this morning before 11am or after 4pm at
215-703-8557.
Take care,
Blake
