CIRCULAR

The Govrnment of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports has introduced a 'Scheme of Sports & Games for the Disabled' with an objective to broad-base participative sports among the disabled.

Further, the Government of India, Minsitry of Youth Affairs & Sports has designated "'Special Olympics Bharat" as the Nodal Agency for the purpose of Master Trainers' training: training of community coaches and conduct of sports competitions at district and state / UT level for the Persons with disabilities for the year 2010-11.

Accordingly. Special Olympics Bharat has decided to organize district level sports competitions in respect of districts North West; South West and South in the following disciplines:

      Football

      Athletics

      Badminton

      Bocce

The students with any kind of disability can participate in these games. The maximum ceiling of participants will be 225 in each district in the sub-junior, junior and Sr. category in the following manner:

The schedule of district level training of coaches and organisation of games is as follows:


District North West (Comprising NW-A & NW-B):

      Training for 50 coaches (PETs) will be undertaken at Chhatrasal Stadium from 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. on 2nd & 3rd February 2011.

      Organisation of Football, Athletics and Bocce games will take place at Chhatrasal Stadium on 4Ul & 5th February 2011. Badminton will take place at Ludlow Castle Sports Complex Civil Lines on 4lh February 2011.

District South West (Comprising SWA & SW-B):

      Training for 50 coaches (PETs) will be undertaken at Thyagraj Stadium (Near Safdarjung Bus Terminal) from 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. on 2nd & 3rd February 2011.

      Organisation of Football. Athletics, Badminton and Bocce games will take place at Thyagraj Stadium on 4lh & 5Ih February 2011.

District South:

      Training for 50 coaches (PETs) will be undertaken at Thyagraj Stadium (Near Safdarjung Bus Terminal) from 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. on 7th & 8,h February 2011.

      Organisation of Football, Athletics, Badminton and Bocci games will take place at Thyagraj Stadium on 9,h & 10lh February 2011.

The Deputy Directors of Education of the concerned districts are requested to bring the contents of training of coaches and competitions into the knowledge of all the Heads of schools of their districts so that the students with any kind of disability may participate in these games. The participating students may send their entries directly with "Special Olympics Bharat". Their contact details are as under:

The Deputy Directors of Education of the concerned districts are requested to nominate Physical Education Teachers from their districts to receive training and conduct competitions on above days in the following manner:

The entire expenditure towards organizational expenses, officiating charges, charges for opening / closing ceremonies. TA for officials, shamiana, refreshment charges, transport to the players, medals, certificates, charges for sports equipments & any other miscellaneous expenses will be borne by the "Special Olympics Bharat".

All the participating PETs will be treated "On Duty" during the period of training and competitions.

This issues with the prior concurrence of Director (Education).
