TAC-e proudly announces our Small Fall 2012 Production...
The Primary English Class
Written by: Israel Horovitz
Directed by: Danny Eisenberg
Produced by: Zachary St. Louis
“The Primary English Class” focuses on a group of foreigners coming to an ESL class for the first time and the inevitable wealth of miscommunication that occurs as a result. The class is led by an unprepared teacher, Ms. Wastba, who tries very hard to get everyone to pay attention, but is thwarted every time because no one has any idea what she’s saying. As the class goes on, frustrations increase, but so do the students’ English abilities, ever so slightly. The students are all speaking in their native languages – French, Italian, German, Chinese, Japanese (and there is also a Polish janitor). Two translators say the foreign lines offstage.
