Caregiving and navigating the eldercare system can be a daunting task. Many people just don’t know where to turn. A geriatric care manager guides the family through assessing the needs of the older person, developing a care plan to include resources, advocacy, crisis intervention, and caregiver education. The Little Falls Alliance for a Better Community is once again sponsoring a Summer in the Park Concert Series, Marketplace & More! at Memorial Park, Main Street and Wilmore Road at the Gazebo. Bring your blanket or lawn chair, get comfy and enjoy!

The Marketplace & More! will include Hot Dogs, Food, Ice Cream, Desserts, Beverages, Clothing, Jewelry, Crafts, Cosmetics, Bakery, Pottery, Candles and more. The Marketplace will be open on Thursdays from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm.

The Township of Little Falls Planning Board will conduct a “Special Meeting” to be held virtually on Monday, July 19, 2021 at 7:00 p.m.

The foregoing Special Meeting is being conducted via a virtual meeting due to the current situation involving the COVID-19 virus and directives of State and County governments that restrict public gatherings and direct residents of New Jersey to stay at home.

The Little Falls Township Council has forwarded Ordinance No.1415  and  Ordinance N0. 1416  to the Planning Board for review and comments. The Planning Board will be reviewing the two (2) new Township Cannabis Ordinances for compliance with the Master Plan. The Ordinances will establish a special commercial district, which will be named the B2 District (which will establish bulk and area requirements for the B2 Zone and uses).

Commingled materials (glass, plastic, tin cans and aluminum) are picked up on alternate Wednesdays. Recycling cans are available at the DPW yard on Sindle Avenue. Recycling office hours are 9 am to 3:30 pm weekdays. For more information, please contact the Department of Public Works at (973) 256-6815. Please remember to secure recyclable items and keep Little Falls beautiful. Please also be aware that plastic bags are no longer permitted to be used in recycling.

Commingled items include aluminum cans, glass containers (no window glass), tin and bi-metal cans, and plastics (#1, 2, 5 ONLY).

Recycling must be out by 6 A.M. (No Later). Containers with contents must weigh no more than 40 lbs. (Good rule of thumb, if you can pick up the container three feet off the ground, then it should be ok). Containers are NOT to be placed in the street for pick up.

TOWNSHIP COUNCIL HYBRID REGULAR MEETING (7/26/21)


The Little Falls Township Council holds its Regular Meetings at 7:00 PM on the fourth Monday of each month except as noted in the Township Calendar. Resolutions/Ordinances which will be acted on follow Agenda when it is posted to the website.

TAXES ARE DUE AUGUST 1, 2021, GRACE PERIOD ENDS ON AUG. 10TH

Estimated 3rd qtr. tax bills were mailed out June 30, 2021. This quarter is posted online at this time @ www.lfnj.com; Tax Collector; VIEW TAXES HERE.

The 3rd quarter taxes are due August 1, 2021, with a 10-day grace period ending on August 10th. Interest of 8/18% will be retroactive back to August 1, 2021, if not received on Aug. 10th before 3:30 p.m. in Window drop box, or in mail by Aug. 10th (postmarks are not accepted).

The Tax Collector’s counter remains closed to the public at this time due to COVID-19; therefore, payments can be made as follows:

  1. Tax Collector’s Window drop box (exterior of rear bldg./TAX PAYMENTS ONLY.). Please place tax payments in a sealed envelope marked “TAX COLLECTOR” with tax stub and check, NO CASH. Include self-addressed stamped return envelope if receipt needed.
  2. No fee for tax payments online (ACH e-checks only). www.lfnj.com; Tax Collector; PAY ONLINE TAXES HERE.
  3. Mail tax stub and check to:

Senior/Disabled Property Reimbursement Homeowner Verification forms shall be forwarded to the Tax Collector before July 23rd or after August 13th and before deadline of November 1st for completion. These forms cannot be filled out during a tax quarter. You may mail the one-page Homeowners Verification PTR-1A or PTR 2-A form(s) to the Tax Collector for completion or leave them in a sealed envelope in the Tax Collector’s window drop box during the timeframe above along with a self-addressed stamped return envelope. Please do not mail or leave the whole book in drop box. Kindly include your telephone # if any questions. All questions regarding this program shall be addressed directly to the State of NJ @ 1-800-882-6597. 2020 SENIOR FREEZE PROGRAM (PROPERTY TAX REIMBURSEMENT): UPDATED APRIL 16, 2021

The Division of Taxation mailed applications for the 2020 Senior Freeze (Property Tax Reimbursement) to senior citizens and disabled residents who may be eligible for the program. The deadline for filing the applications is November 1, 2021. The Tax Collector has received the first-time filer applications from the State. You can request the application booklet by contacting 973-256-0994 and our Tax Collector will mail it out to you or print from the State’s web site. The counter is currently closed to the public due to Covid-19. Verification of Taxes PTR-1A or PTR-2A must be filled out in its entirety (Part I) by the applicant and place this page only in the mail or window drop box for the Tax Collector’s signature. DO NOT MAIL OR PLACE THE WHOLE BOOKLET APPLICATION IN THE WINDOW DROP BOX! Place Verification of Taxes (PTR-1A or PTR-2-A) in a sealed envelope in the drop box with your telephone number along with a self-addressed stamped return envelope. Please allow 2-3 weeks once received for completion. No application(s) will be completed during a tax quarter which lasts for 10-15 days; these need to be sent in two weeks prior to a tax quarter (tax qtrs. are May 1st, Aug. 1st and Nov. 1st).

Instead of having the Tax Collector complete the PTR-1A or PTR-2A you may send in your required documents; see the instructions in the booklet for the same.
