New Jersey Has REAL ID Available at MVC Locations Statewide

If you plan to fly domestically or enter federal buildings, you'll need a REAL ID or passport. New Jersey issues REAL ID-compliant driver's licenses and identification cards at Motor Vehicle Commission locations across the state.

You can schedule an appointment online at the MVC website. Bring proof of identity, Social Security number, and two proofs of New Jersey address. The MVC now accepts digital documents as proof of address, which means you can show utility bills, bank statements, or other qualifying documents on your phone or device.

REAL IDs look similar to standard licenses but include a star in the upper right corner. If your current license doesn't have the star, you'll need to upgrade before the federal deadline.
