From Mayor Damianos Facebook Page -  A discussion about allowing a cannabis retailer to open on Rt 46

James Belford Damiano is with Chris Vancheri and
4 others
 in Little Falls, NJ.

19h
At TONIGHT'S night's council meeting we will begin the discussion about allowing a cannabis retailer to open on Rt 46. It is on the agenda, but in the interest of engaging as much of the public as possible, I wanted to mention it here as well.
When we first allowed certain types of cannabis businesses to consider Little Falls as a location, we did not allow retailers. This was done for two reasons: the first was to see how many other types of cannabis businesses came into town, and the second was to see how having a cannabis retailer impacted other communities where it was permitted.
We are now considering the idea of allowing a retailer on Rt 46 because we have received some interest from businesses in the other categories, and because the towns that have allowed retail in NJ have not seen any adverse affects.
In addition to the above, the research shows that the revenue for the Township that impacts everyone's taxes could be in the hundreds of thousands of dollars per year. The businesses that we have reviewed are well-run professional operations that show no down-side whatsoever.
I feel the time is right for the discussion to begin, and I want to invite you to come and have your opinion heard. I hope you'll join us.
