Disability History and Culture Collective (DHACC) email Groups

Find and share this page at: bit.ly/DHACC-GoogleGroups

Disability History and Culture Collective (DHACC) has two Google Groups for disability-related conversations: DHACC Disability Museum, focused on museums, exhibits, and collections (formal, informal, or in progress), and Disability Advocates – Lead On, for general disability community discussions, events, resources, and current issues.

You may choose one or both, depending on your interests:

1. DHACC Disability Museum

This group focuses on museums, exhibits, and collections related to disability (whether formal, informal, or still in development).
Topics include:

  • Best practices, development, and locations

  • Congressional support and funding opportunities

  • Museum access, announcements, training, and mutual support

  • Communication about current projects

  • Collecting songs, art, and recollections of events for future inclusion in museums

Join DHACC Disability Museum:

2. Disability Advocates – Lead On
This group is for general discussion and information-sharing within the disability community.
Topics include:

  • Disability events and political issues

  • Links to newsletters and resources

  • Recollections and photos of disability history

  • Current needs and conversations in the community

Join Disability Advocates – Lead On:

Posting Guidelines (for both groups):

  • Put clear, descriptive subject lines on posts (e.g., History, Events, Collections, Grants, Action, Political, Accessibility, Meeting Announcement).

  • Avoid posting images unless they add content. If you do, include a description and type out any text.

  • Share direct links (not just embedded ones) with a brief explanation of what they are and why they matter.

  • When forwarding an email or link, add a short summary for context.

  • If you need help posting or writing an image description, email: DH...@ILoveYou-LeadOn.com

  • If your access needs aren’t being met, email: DH...@ILoveYou-LeadOn.com

Joining Notes:

  • You must be logged into a Google account to join. (It doesn’t need to be Gmail but does need to be registered with Google.)

  • If you see the message “You don’t have permission to access this content”, look for the Join Group button or use the link that says “For access, try joining the group or contacting the group’s owners and managers.”

  • More on using an existing (non-Gmail) address: https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/27441
