NC 54 Moratorium Petition Agenda Item -- CH Town Council, 6/25/08

Attached is a copy of the agenda item (without appendices) for
the NC 54 Corridor Petition that will appear before the Town Council
this coming Wednesday, 6/25. The Planning Department has recommended
no action at this time by the Town Council, based upon expected
establishment of "a process and timeline this fall to discuss
population projections, density, mixed-use and higher density
development" and a "Public Hearing as late as November 10" that would
not change the status of any current or future large-scale
development.
Although it would be good for G-L neighbors and advocates to show
up for the TC meeting next Wednesday to be a presence and hear the
discussion, my opinion is that this is an OK interim outcome, and that
the moratorium could be put in place as part of the development review
process in the Fall, or advocated at the public hearing. Without
waiting too long, the later the moratorium is put in place, the
further out it will be active. Other thoughts and opinions?
