Dear Neighbors,

I have posted items of interest to the "other" googlegroup website
called "Glen Lennox Neighborhood."
If you aren't a member of that group, you're not going to be as up on
the upcoming discussions and meeting announcements by the GLN Steering
Committee. So, I encourage you to join that googlegroup if you want
to stay tuned to the latest - at least as far as the Steering
Committee discussion go.

The Planning Board will meet on August 5. On their agenda is a
discussion about the Glen Lennox Neighborhood Conservation District,
or N - C - D process. I believe that the next step is for the
Planning Board to authorize the Town's Planning Staff to organize a
public meeting about the NCD process. In their last meeting, the Town
Council approved the NCD petition and forwarded to the Planning
Board. After some discussion, Council Member Matt Czajkowski added a
bit to the approval, requesting the Planning Board consider some sort
of meeting between the Grubb properties development team and some
neighbors. Of course, since this last Town Council meeting, Grubb
properties has withdrawn their original Concept Plan from the Town.

Just today, I was invited to meet with Jim Schaafsma and Josh Gurlitz,
two representatives of the Grubb development team. I reluctantly
declined. I say 'reluctantly,' because I believe it is in our
interest to build a better relationship with one of the largest
property owners in our neighborhood. I declined, however, because the
Steering Committee - when we last met - decided that no one should
meet individually with the developer until the Steering Committee
decides otherwise.

I believe it is time that any neighbors who are interested in what
happens or is built in our neighborhood begin (or begin again) to
participate in the upcoming discussions this fall. One way to do this
is to contribute ideas in one form or another (web, pen-and-ink,
holding meetings, continuing our impromptu info-sharing on our walks,
etc) so that we form an appreciation for what will ultimately be
decided by the Town government. I know many of you already have
contributed a lot of time and work and energy. In terms of meetings
and on-line chats, however, it's been fairly quiet till now.

Hope your summer is going well! I look forward to seeing and hearing
from you all.

Thanks for the update.

First, I believe it is important for someone to meet with Schaafsma
and Gurlitz. It will not be a warm-fuzzy event, but at least 2 or 3
from the steering committee should meet to hear what Grubb's
representatives have to say. However, at no time should those
representatives speak about the interests of the Glen Lennox or Little
River coalitions, other than to affirm that the NCD will be pursued to
conclusion.

Second, I could not locate the Glen Lennox Neighborhood google group.
Can you post the link?

Best of luck, and enjoy the remainder of summer.

I am a bit confused. I met with Rea Buckley last week and she said
that the meeting will take place on Aug 19, not Aug 5.
