In addition to running the simple shortcuts suggested by Siri, you can use the Shortcuts app to add ready-made or custom shortcuts to your devices. The app lets you combine multiple steps across multiple apps to create powerful task automations.

An action is the building block of a shortcut. Each shortcut comprises a series of actions, and each action is a single step that performs a particular function. For example, a shortcut that shares an animated GIF might contain three consecutive actions: Get Latest Photos grabs the latest photos that you took on your device, Make GIF uses those photos to build an animated GIF, and Send Message automatically sends the GIF to your recipients.

Hi, the recommended way to create a shortcut is to to indeed use the hamburger menu. This should open up a page in Safari prompting you to add a shortcut to the home screen. I am not able to repro any issue with this on iOS 14.4. Would you be able to take a video if you are still experiencing the issue on iOS 14.4?

Hello :) I've created a new folder in the Files app, and I would like to have a widget or shortcut saved on my home screen that will open that folder directly. It seems as though it should be pretty simple, but I can't seem to figure it out.

Hello all! I would like to make a apple iphone shortcut to add a task to a note. Currently I have it partially working, I can ask Siri to append a note and she does it. Problem is, it just appends text to the note and not a task (checkbox). Any ideas of how this can be done are appreciated.

You might have seen the Apple Shortcuts app installed on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac, but it might not be immediately clear what it is or how to use it. This app can streamline your routines and free up a precious few seconds on repetitive tasks. A shortcut is simply a way to get something done with your apps via a single tap or word to Siri. You can create a simple shortcut to browse the top news stories of the day, for example, or a chain of actions to close your smart blinds, play sleep sounds, and turn off the lights at bedtime.

The shortcuts suggested for you will depend on how you use your phone. So if you regularly listen to Radio 6 Music on the BBC Sounds app, you'll see a suggested shortcut to listen live to Radio 6 Music. To add a different shortcut, follow the steps below.

Mine was working fine in 6.1.1 until i update to 6.1.2. I later found my itunes backup restore cleared all my shortcuts so i had to enter them again. Shortcuts worked well for a while and now don't work anymore.

An update: With the newest update, we can use the shortcut "top up from own account" action to send money between bunq sub-accounts without any user interaction! (as in, no bunq app opening).
Sadly it is not possible to add descriptions to these as of today, but let's hope for the future!

Many users find that using an external keyboard with keyboard shortcuts for Microsoft Lens on iOS helps them work more efficiently. For users with mobility or vision disabilities, keyboard shortcuts can be easier than using the touchscreen and are an essential alternative to using a mouse.
