I am sure I have seen a movie similiar to the epic tale of Iliad,
although my memory of the movie and my interpetition skills of this
tale are very opposite. My view point as it stands today (defore our
eye opening discussion in class), is this story covers a time in which
men loved battle and riches. Their belief that the gods would always
protect them from harm and the death of their enemy's would bring them
much deserved respect and glory from not only their cities, the the
whole world as they knew it.

This epic also gives new insight to the lengtghs men will go for a
gorgeous woman to be at the side. It seems men had little rational
thought of how many warriors must die, how many fathers will loose
their son, how many wives would become widowed, how many children will
become fatherless, just because the lead warrior or ruler has a DESIRE
of another man woman. Where the number of beautiful woman that
limited? Or was the ego of men just that self centered back than?

I can only assume that man has finally learned a lesson from the past,
or at least I think so. I can not recall in war in recent history
that were because of a woman. They (wars) did not always a rational
purpose, but at least thousands or even million did not did for such a
selfish purpose of one man.

We still live in "a time" in which men (generally speaking) love
battle and riches. I know, right now, lots of "men" who spend alot of
their time thinking about "gorgeous women". Are beautiful women so
limited in out own time as well?? Or are men just equally obsessed
with them? And as far as wars go, WWI was sparked over the death of
one man. You may say, well that was one hundred years ago and involved
a man, but imagine if the first lady of the US was kidnapped or killed
by people our government doesn't like very much, like Iranians. I
think theres a good chance we would end up at war with them,
especially if they openly refused to give her back.

People don't change much. Times change, the scenery changes, but
people, sadly, have not.
