Lithuanian Pastors Salaries

Dear Friends of the Lithuania United Methodist Church
Vidas, Giedrius, Grazina, Viktoija, Raimondas and Remigijus. These are the names of our 6 Lithuanian pastors. They came from all over Lithuania. Each of them has made significant sacrifices to be pastors in the United Methodist Church reestablished here in 1995. The truth is that I don’t have enough funds to pay their salaries and expenses for the remainder of 2009. We aren’t paying them a lot (take home pay for Elders is $607 a month and for probationers $542 a month). In fact the total cost for all six pastors for the entire year is less than the package of salary, housing, pension and medical insurance for one pastor at minimum salary in the US.
I know that the economic crisis has hit many of us hard. I know that funds are short all around. I also know that it is my responsibility to do everything that I can to meet our obligation to these pastors. Can you or your church help? If you can, your gift in whatever amount would be greatly appreciated.
