Dear Partners and Friends of Lithuania I can’t believe it is February already. The time is zipping by and I wanted to bring you up to date on some of the latest happenings in the Lithuania United Methodist Church. Change of AppointmentsBeginning January 31, 2010 Gidrius Jablonskis was appointed by the Bishop to serve the Vilnius and Ukmerge congregations. Giedrius is living in Vilnius and we hope this will help us in the ongoing development of this congregation in the capital. On the same date, Bonnie Campbell was appointed to serve the Kaunas (Sanciai) and Eiguliai congregations. Bonnie also continues the new weekly Bible study in Sveitcarija (about 30 kilometers from Kaunas). This of course cuts down on Bonnie’s travel time each week. You can communicate directly with Giedrius (giedrius....@gmail.com) and Bonnie (revbonni...@gmail.com) . We are also anticipating several other changes in appointments this year in Lithuania that will become effective following our Annual Conference in April. When these are formally announced by the Bishop I will share these with you. Friends of Lithuania and Latvia Gathering – April 23-25 Our “Friends” gathering will be at First UMC in Lancaster, OH (not far from Columbus) beginning the morning of Friday, April 23rd. Tim Binkley and Kathy Halverson are coordinating this and should have additional details shortly. They hope to have online registration at their church website: http://www.lancasterfumc.org/ shortly. Keep on the lookout and I will send you details as I receive them as well.
Many Thanks for Support of Pastors Salaries I just wanted to thank so many of you again for your support of Lithuanian Pastors Salaries through the Advance last year. We were able to meet our full obligations to all the pastors. I hope many of you will continue this support so that we don’t have a crisis again next fall. Lithuania Annual Conference Set for April 9-11 Our Annual District Conference will be held in Kaunas April 9-11 this year. The Board of Ordained Ministry will be recommending Pastor Vidas and Pastor Remigijus for ordination so this will be the highlight of conference I am sure. It will also be Bishop Alsted’s first Conference in Lithuania. If you would like to join us, let me know and I can help make arrangements for you on this end. New email address for Pastor Viktorija. Pastor Viktorija had her email “stolen” and so has lost all of her emails and contacts list. Her new email is ja.jabl...@gmail.com If you communicate with Viktorija, send her an email so she can get you back in her contact list. Next Issue of our Newsletter I am getting articles translated now for our next Newsletter Issue. I hope to send it out in the next couple of weeks.
