Many people enjoy growing plants in their garden, usually for the
purpose of decoration. Poison ivy is not one of those plants. People
choose not to grow poison ivy in their gardens because poison ivy
causes the skin to itch and gives rashes. It might be inconvenient for
the owner of the house to have to worry about not touching the ivy
every day. Despite this, I don't know why people don't grow poison ivy
in their houses. To begin with, it's not an ugly plant. If people grow
plants to keep their house looking nice then poison ivy could very be
included on the list. Secondly, it could prove to be a source of
protection for the house. Any burglars trying to break into the house
would be unaware of the poison ivy and would probably run away
screaming once their skin started to itch. It could be quite funny.
Thirdly, it would be an interesting dinner conversation for parties at
the house. After being invited, guests would be told to avoid the
poison ivy and they would find this odd and probably discuss it at the
table. In summary, poison ivy is an attractive plant that would make
life interesting, ward away burglars and keep the lawn and garden
looking nice were it grown in peoples backyards. People should start
growing poison ivy in their gardens. Thank you for the idea Mr.
Burton, I might very well do that in my future house's garden.
