Hello!

First things first, of course: Amelia Gray has become joined the ranks. She is, as you know, the eighth amazing person to join in the merriment so far this year not to mention the author of AM/PM, among other great feats such as winning big-time contests. Rarely a long-winded writer, she sent me three shorter fictions, all of which are characteristic of her typically brilliant style. You can download dispatch eight by clicking here or entering the following into your browser manually: http://litareview.com/cgi-bin/load.cgi?dl/09/DISPATCH8.0709.AG.pdf?from=list.

Here is a an excerpt from one of the stories ("Beating the Odds"):

"Hello," said the tortoise. A bouquet of wilting lilies was taped to his shell.

"It's good to see you," murmured the hare. Perhaps if he pretended it hurt to open his eyes, the tortoise would leave. The hare squinted and squirmed.

The website has been not-quite-completely overhauled. I have left the core elements in tact for the present. A few minor problems that were bugging me and things were improved overall and, on the suggestion of a respected peer, I am now going to place an excerpt from each issue on the front page.

Further, all past issues are now available in a fifth format, LRF, which is another standard format for mobile devices, notably the Sony Reader.

Lastly, I am accepting submissions of microfiction, 200 words or less, for inclusion in this newsletter and on the syndicated feed. The guidelines are available for handy reference here ( http://litareview.com/guidelines.shtml?from=list ). These microfictions will be numbered in a point-five manner. So if I were including one here, it would be numbered 7.5. Once I have received/accepted enough to do a considerable stretch of half-issues, I will start issuing them out in time with new issues. Whether or not I will archive them on the site is still unclear.

I am forever looking for ways to improve this magazine. If you have any suggestions, please make them at your earliest convenience.

That is all for now.

Thank you very much for your time.
