Dear Friends,
I'm writing to invite you to discover
Pulse--voices from the heart of medicine (
pulsevoices.org).
In circulation for sixteen years, Pulse is a premier online resource for first-person accounts by health professionals, patients, caregivers and students in the health professions.
As Donald Berwick once said, "I not only read Pulse, I adore it. The supply of compelling, often poetic accounts is the best around."
If you
subscribe to Pulse--and it's free--you will receive an email every Friday featuring a personal story or poem, accompanied by a visual or haiku. The stories are scrupulously edited, concise and compelling--about a thousand words in length--ideal for a quick read or for sharing in class. They are honest, powerful and memorable.
Pulse is committed to conveying a broad range of experiences in our
Stories and in our
New Voices feature, which specifically seeks the perspectives of underrepresented groups. Winners and finalists in our recent writing contest, On Being Different, are now being featured in our pages.
Pulse also encourages readers to write and submit. Our
More Voices feature welcomes short (less than 400 words) pieces on a new theme every month.
Our poetry, visual and haiku features, along with our brand-new
Pulse Voices Podcasts, round out the
Pulse experience and offer more opportunities for creative submissions.
Come visit the
Pulse website.
Subscribe. And join the
Pulse community of over 10,000 educators, health professionals, students, patients and caregivers who find nourishment and affirmation in
Pulse. We welcome submissions from you and your students, and we welcome student subscribers.
Sincerely,
Paul Gross MD
