Best,
Ann Fox

The Department of English at Davidson College seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor with teaching and research interests in British Literature before 1800 or American Literature before 1900 or both. We welcome applications from candidates whose work crosses disciplinary, national, and linguistic borders, who might be interested in established programs of the college, such as Global Literary Theory, and who might be interested in joining groups of faculty committed to fields such as indigenous studies, disability studies, and carceral studies. We especially invite applications from candidates who can design courses in critical theory and courses in Davidson's Writing Program for first-year students.
The successful candidate will teach four courses during the 2025-2026 academic year and five courses during each subsequent year. At least one course per year will contribute to the Writing Program. The flexible major in English and the extensive collaboration across departments and programs at Davidson offer opportunities to develop a range of courses, from introductory surveys to upper-level seminars.
Please submit a CV with a cover letter that addresses research, teaching, and approaches to inclusive pedagogy. Only letters and CVs will be considered. References and additional materials will be invited after the initial review. Priority will be given to applications received by October 11; applications received after November 1 will not be considered.
