Global hot key support under OS/X and Linux

We would like to provide users under OS/X and Linux the same "at your
fingertips" experience as the Windows users.
Under Windows lis.to already has global hot key support for opening
the main and "New Task" windows.

For getting it to work under OS/X or Linux we would need help from
native Mac or Unix developers that would be able to provide a tiny JNI
library similar to the DLL lis.to already comes with.

Currently lis.to builds on JIntelliType code (http://melloware.com/
products/jintellitype/index.html) for the Windows global hotkeys.

Does anyone have the time to point us into the right direction to get
the same OS integration done under the different UNIX derivates?

We'd be grateful for input on this!
