We are thrilled to announce that Google Summer of Code (GSoC) will be back in 2026 for its 22nd year! 


Mentoring organizations interested in participating in GSoC 2026 should prepare for the application window, which opens soon. The application period for organizations will run from Monday, January 19, to Tuesday, February 3, 2026.

GSoC Mentoring Org Application Tips Session

Please join us on Thursday, January 8 at 1700 UTC for a GSoC Organization Application Tips session to go over best practices for applying to GSoC.


A slide deck will be sent to this list following the talk for your reference, should you be unable to attend.

GSoC Contributor Information Session

We are hosting four GSoC Information Sessions over the next couple of months to help potential GSoC applicants understand what is required to be a successful GSoC contributor. Each Information Session will be the same so no need to attend multiple.

For GSoC 2026, we are actively looking to bring in more projects in the high-demand areas of Security and AI/ML. These fields are of interest to potential GSoC contributors.

If you know of an open source organization doing exceptional work in AI/ML or security, please refer them to GSoC!
