Subject: Applications Deadline November 3 for Winter/Spring 2001 Class

The Politics & Journalism Semester is a 4-month Washington semester for
college journalists whose career goal is political reporting. We bring 13
students to Washington twice yearly (September-December and February-May),
selected from nominees submitted by 48 participating j-schools AND from
direct applicants.

Interns receive $2,500 stipends for the semester. They're placed in major
bureaus (Wall Street Journal, Knight Ridder, Houston Chronicle, CNN, etc.)
as full-time reporting and writing interns. The heart of the program is
its twice-weekly seminar series on campaign, governance and interest group
politics -- a "headstart" program for future political reporters, now in
its 12th year.

More info and application forms for the Winter/Spring 2001 semester can be
