Not deferring emails with permanent errors

I might have completely misunderstood this but....

In my deferred queue (viewing with postqueue -p), there are messages that have no suffix character (*!#) next to them, which I assume are deferred for retrying. However, some of these have what I consider to be permanent errors like "Host not found, try again" and others that I am happy to fail immediately (like Mailbox Full, since although theoretically Temp, in my case it would be a warning sign).

1) Why are things like "Host not found" not considered permanent and immmediately cause a DSN? Is it just to handle the possibility of temp DNS failure?
2) What control do I have over which emails might run the full 4 days of retries vs others that I am happy to fail immediately?
3) When I deleted the unneeded messages from the queue manually with postsuper -d, it doesn't appear that it triggers a failure DSN from postfix back to the return-path. Is that correct or is it configurable?

Thanks
