I see a lot of information about allowing 8-bit inbound email or requiring 7-bit (and why would you?), but nothing at all about accepting all email but sending only 7-bit.
The context here is I'm using Postfix/OpenDKIM as an MTA for internal services, but if 8-bit emails are sent, recipient systems are converting them to 7-bit, breaking the DKIM signing.
I want to tell Postfix to convert to 7-bit before sending to OpenDKIM for signing but there doesn't seem to be a way to explicitly tell it to.
One solution (amavisd) describes 'tricking' Postfix into downgrading an email to 7-bit, but there should be an explicit way to set it up rather than playing with the perceptions of the system, right?
