Who Is Charles Collins?
I just got off the phone from a lengthy conversation with Charles
Collins. He is at this time continuing his independent candidacy
for President, in spite of his statements on C-SPAN made at the
Libertarian national convention July fifth. He did tell me that
he is right now in the process of reviewing his statements which
both he and I have on video tape but what he told me that he
remembers of his statements does not match what I have on tape.
My purpose in making this posting is to do what I can to attempt
to save our Republic. I have in the past held Charles Collins in
high esteem; it will be up to him to prove by his actions whether
he is a true patriot and a man of honor and integrity or just
another ex-Republican politician who will say anything to get
elected. Read the quotations below and watch Collins' future
actions and we will see just who Charles Collins proves himself to
be.
Question at Libertarian Party convention: How will your campaign
help the Libertarian Party?
Collins' answer on C-SPAN: ". . . we're talking on talk shows and
we're preaching the Libertarian theme everyday . . . and I would
continue to preach the importance of truth, honesty, integrity,
and character in government . . . let's unite behind liberty and
freedom and the Libertarian movement."
Question at Libertarian Party convention: If you don't receive
the Libertarian Party nomination will you endorse and campaign for
the nominee?
Collins' answer on C-SPAN: ". . . if I'm not nominated when I
read the platform of all the candidates and whoever is nominated
then I will make that decision but at this time I would reserve it
because I have, was told to do so when I got here but I can
support Harry Browne without any problem because I love Harry and
I love his platform but, the whole Libertarian Party I love also."
There you have it in Collins' own words. It remains to be seen if
he is a man of "truth, honesty, integrity, and character" and will
honor his public pledge to endorse and campaign for Harry Browne
- or - if he is just another politician.
I believed that Collins was telling the truth in statements made
throughout his campaign and I believed that the man was a patriot
who wanted to save our Republic by restoring limited,
constitutional government. I hope I was right. I pray that he
will decide to abide by his public pledge to support Harry Browne
and that Browne, when elected, will appoint Collins to a position
where he can dismantle the Federal Reserve.
All patriots must unite to support Harry Browne, the one patriot
Presidential candidate with the potential to win against the
establishment in 1996. Let's save the Republic now and worry
about the details later. Collins told me on the telephone that he
has had a call in to Browne since yesterday. Harry, I beseech you
to come to an agreement with Collins, announce now to what
position you will appoint him, and give him an honored place in
your campaign.
Collins gave me the excuse that he has a lawsuit of major
importance pending. Trust me, the feds will drag this out for
four months until after election and it will be no factor. The
only factor is will all patriots unite or will they continue to
pull in different directions. We have a chance to elect a patriot
President in 1996 if we all band together and we may never have
that chance again without bloody revolution in our beloved
country.
Mr. Collins, are you an honorable man who will stand behind your
public pledge to support Harry Browne, or are you just another
politician? Time will tell who Charles Collins is.
