I am trying to set-up ISDN on RH6.1 with a BT Speedway ISDN card
connecting through to my ISP (Demon) in the UK.
I have tried to use information from rh-isdn
(http://www.webideal.de/rh-isdn) to help me setup the various
configuration files - doing it manually as described in Mirko Zeibig's
document "Redhat and ISDN4Linux" rather than running the rh-isdn
configurator.
All seems to go well starting isdn4linux and bringing up the ippp0
interface. When I initiate a dial however, the connection is not made -
details in the log file extract below.
I have included as much information as I can including copies of the
various configuration files. Sorry if there is so much but I have been
trying to get this working for quite some time now and am not sure what
I need to look at. Is it a configuration error, or something not
working as it should? All help much appreciated.

I have the following installed (Redhat 6.1):-

At the ISDN level, everything is fine, you are now connected (and you pay the
telco).
No, let's try to PPP:

I would check that the phone number is the right one (may be you call a shell service and not a synchronous PPP one) and that the remote machine is indeed OK.

Hi Simon,
Several comment - your HUPTIMEOUT value is very short - 3 secs.
Increase it to say 30secs?
You are dialing into Demon Internet in the UK ( as I do). They provide
static IP numbers - unless things have changed recently. Moreover you
have to define the IP numbers to Demon! Use the values you were
provided with, and replace the 192.168.100... with the real IP
numbers.
Remove the ipcp_accept_local and remote parameters, as you are
defining the values.
Our webpage gives more details of a set-up that works on a number of
machines that connect to Demon.

It's quite easy (since it's a FAQ). You have a Fritz PCI card
and you tell hisax.o to use it as a Fritz PnP card. This cannot
work and was discussed to death here.
DON'T specify io and irq for the driver (or say "0" if a mask
forces you do say something).

That's the log which makes me think what I say above.

And that's what makes me sure of the misconfiguration.

Make the IRQ and IO setting read "0" or make them empty!

Sorry, I'm not familiar with your card, but is AVM Fritz the right type for
your card?

Here's your problem: It's a FAQ (i4lfaq 11.x)

Your authentification on the above config doesn't fit your requirements.
When the errors described in the FAQ doesn't help, you it could also be a
problem with you dial-in. Some time ago I had the same problem with LCP
request and had just to change my dial-in number, where they had another
hard- and firmware.
