Michael,
Before you spend too much time congratulating yourself on your
predictive capabilities, let me ask a question:
If I posted a "prediction" today that "future telecom networks were
going to use IP as their core technology," and posted something next
week that reproduced a blurb from a Qwest press release, would you label
me as a prophet?
If you knew that the activities of Qwest and others had been going on
for quite some time, you would not, and any claims that I made to being
a prophet would be (appropriately) met with derision.
And so it is with your "prediction." Building quality of service
features into data communications devices and networks, and creating
differentiated levels of service, is not a new idea, my friend. The
concept of different pricing for different "committed information rates"
for public frame relay services, for example, goes back, I believe, to
1992-93. The religious war that has pitted IP advocates against the ATM
faithful has largely been fought on the battlefield of quality of
service.
You are reporting old news as prediction. Free advice: This is not a
good way to enhance your credibility.
Pete
