Hi All -- New to the List-It FF extension, but loving it so far.

Thoughts on future mods:

1. Instead of just a "main" list of notes -- why not allow the
creation of list folders?

2. In line with #1 above, then allow individual note entries to be
dragged and dropped into the various folders.

3. I use this for making notes on support tickets for several web
businesses, and I would like to keep ticket notes from the various
sites separated by site.

4. This functionality would become especially important as the number
of notes increases.

Just my two cents, but this would GREATLY expand the usefulness of
this extension to me...

You can accomplish this as follows:
* in each note, write the name of the folder you wish it was in (some
people use a special syntax, e.g. #todo)---this is sometimes called a
"tag" for the note
* do a search for that folder name
* save that search using the "+" icon next to the search box

as you repeat this for each folder you want, you'll get a list of
clickable buttons below the search bar that can bring up the notes of
the given folder

does that feel easier than just typing a tag in the note? (this is
one of the research questions we are studying)

if you type the site name into the note, you can use the search/tag
functionality mentioned above

David --

This would be a workaround, but would also require me to type the tag
in for each note. If the tag were misspelled, or left off all
together, it might become lost in among all the others. This way, you
are not really sorting anything out, you are just enabling a tag so
you can find it later.

What I use currently is in the Opera browser -- they have "panels"
that you can slide in and out, and which can also be positioned at the
right-hand side of the screen. One of those panels can be a "notes"
area...

My current setup is this:

[FOLDER 1]
[FOLDER 2]
[FOLDER 3]
.
.
.
Individual new note 1
Individual new note 2

I can actually click on any individual note, drag it to the folder and
it disappears. I can click the folder and it will expand to show all
items stored there. Note that this is happening within the browser app
itself, not an external web application. And you can click and drag
these notes if you want them listed in a different order.

This becomes exceedingly important as the volume of notes becomes very
large, as I mentioned before.

And yes, the folder approach, for me at least, is easier and more
intuitive than using tags.

Currently list-it is something similar to a stack of papers on one's
desk. You shuffle thru them to find the ones you need. I need to be
able to "move" those papers to an appropriate folder. For quick and
short notes, the current approach is fine. But for more extensive note-
taking, or for long-term retention, you need to be more organized than
that, IMHO...

Thanks for listening to my thoughts on this...I do think you guys are
on the right track.
