Dear Friends of List-it,

We write to ask for a little bit of help from you.

Our MIT group created list-it to advance research in personal note-
taking. And research depends on data. We’re hoping you can help us
gather data by contributing some of your "non-sensitive" notes to a
public research corpus.

Our vision is of a resource that can be used by PIM researchers all
over the world. This could significantly advance research in the
field, because it would give different researchers a single benchmark
to assess their work and compare it to others’ research. Right now
that’s really hard, since every researcher works with their own
distinct corpus. And with your help, we could create the largest
corpus ever, enabling completely new kinds of investigation of
information management activities.

Donating notes is simple, easy, and can even be fun! We've created a
special tool that lets you scrub away private information and
contribute the part that’s left. You’ll also be asked to choose the
categories that best describe each note. With this data, we can add
new features to list-it that will be more accurate for you than for
someone who doesn’t participate. The more notes you scrub and donate,
the more helpful we can make List-it, and we’ll try to find some way
of rewarding you in the future, whether through early releases of
features or some other means! Since we know that one of your ultimate
life goals has been to become a Patron of Personal Information
Management, you can now make your dreams a reality!

The scrubbed notes you donate will be made freely available to the
world at https://listit.csail.mit.edu/misc/view/index.html, so if you
are interested in running your own experiments you can do that too!

Please visit http://listit.csail.mit.edu/misc and become a contributor
of the first public corpus of notes, today!

Yours
