Wouldn't it be fairly easy to roll an android app to integrate with
this service? That would make it far more accessible on a mobile
device. Does anybody have such a project in mind?

It would be "fairly easy" but we're a small underfunded research group.
We did create a prototype web page formatted for the dimensions of the
iphone:
http://listit.csail.mit.edu/mobile/
Bookmarking that provides a poor-man's "iphone app".
It might also work for android.
