10.10.10 day of action and party!

Hey folks,

Since you all came out and help made the Great Harvest a success a year ago, you may be interested in checking out one or multiple(!) of these events tomorrow at the 10.10.10 Day of Environmental Action.

What is 10.10.10?  

350.org is calling upon people across the world to take actions that will make their communities more sustainable.  So on 10.10.10, 350 is organizing mass actions at the White House and the Washington Monument, designed to send messages to the White House and Congress, urging them to take the lead on stopping climate change.

Things going on in DC:

In the morning, the DC Food For All is coordinating a series of community garden/farm-building actions happening across the city. (Sign up to get down in the dirt, or host your own and tell us about it!) 
• Starting a bit later in the morning at 11:30 a.m., a bike tour -- sponsored by WABA and Capital Bikeshare -- will hit up many of the sites of action across the city.
• 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.: Special shoutout to the Mayfair Community Center garden building action coordinated by Groundwork Anacostia, the DC Food For All, Neighborhood Farm Initiative, and the DC Crop Mob. (Facebook page here, RSVP to DC Crop Mob.)
  
• At 1 p.m.: there's 350.org's mass demonstration calling for climate leadership at the White House. Facebook invite here.
• 12 p.m. - 7 p.m.: join Bread for the City, the Hip Hop Caucus, Weatherize DC and 350.org for a Sustainable Food Block Party at Bread for the City's Northwest Center, 1525 7th st NW. (Facebook page here, Hip Hop Caucus video here.)
  

  
  

  Free local food and local hip-hop from 12 to 4pm (as sponsored by Roadside Organics and the Hip Hop Caucus), a vegetarian potluck from 5:30 pm onwards (sponsored by LiveGreen), and fantastic speakers throughout.
