Our needs are local, our science is global...
Be a part of CERF's first special conference in South America.
Deadline for submissions is May 24, 2012. Submit online:
http://www.erf.org/CERF2012Argentina
With the theme, The Changing Coastal and Estuarine Environment: A
Comparative Approach, comparison focuses specifically on temperate,
coastal systems within Southern and Northern Hemispheres. The
conference organizers invite you to submit an abstract for an oral or
poster presentation for one of the following six specific topics:
Changing baseline populations
Land-sea couplings in rapidly changing environments
Fisheries exploitation
Impacts of UV on coastal waters
Acidification of coastal waters
Warmer climate, increased freshwater use on land and the
hydrodynamics of estuaries.
This conference aims to:
Summarize the state of knowledge of six topics of concern within a
changing coastal environment. Changes may be the result of local,
regional or global impacts of humans.
Compare the nature of human impacts within temperate South America
and those in comparable climates within North America. In this way we
can examine common and unique aspects that may provide insights for
environmental management.
Foster future international collaborations.
Foster broader education of students and young scientists and
promote networking among peers and with the geographically larger
community.
Submit your abstract and plan to join your colleagues from around the
world plus Keynote Speakers Ivan Valiela of The Ecosystems Center,
Marine Biological Laboratory inWoods Hole, MA, USA and Carlos Duarte
of Instituto Mediterraneo de Estudios Avanzados Esporles in Islas
Baleares, Spain for CERF 2012 in Mar del Plata, Argentina 11 – 14
November 2012.
We look forward to seeing you in Argentina this Fall. Feel free to
contact us with questions or suggestions.
