It's odd it is limited to Windows and Mac only unless you want to settle for terminal only using non-standard niche terminal protocols (kitty).
I'd actually say the majority of serious Common Lisp users are on Linux. (quite a few CL packages are Linux only)
I'm surprised he says it's not very configurable. That seems ... off for a Lisp centric IDE where the language is the star and the primitives are exposed.
I'm not a user of Coalton though. It IS a testament to how flexible Common Lisp is though to implement such a language as a guest.
I think the Lisp "community" needs to be careful.
We can easily fragment ourselves into oblivion where everyone is making languages and tools and nobody is maintaining them 3 months later.
But it is the nature of Lisp to fulfil "what if" thoughts. So he should carry on with it. :)
