If their IBM format they're very much readable in theroy. 
I connected an external USB floppy drive to my Linux computer a week or so ago to grab some old data. :)

Yup, tried that, and they aren’t readable directly on my Mac or in Parallels. I’ll try them on one of my other Unix machines but I suspect they’re toast.
