If memory serves me correctly Microsoft bought out muLISP and rebranded it Microsoft Lisp.
It's odd seeing it branded Microsoft below. (They've got a Microsoft COBOL as well but I'd rather not post unsavory links in a mailing group)

What a luxury it would have been if all the BASIC stuff was Lisp instead. (Assuming it wasn't an anaemic "Lisp" like Auto/VisualLISP).
When I was a project manager for FUMICO I'd get very bored and just write Excel tools in VBA, terrible language with terrible bindings.
Granted, there are at least 3 incompatible dialects.
