My neighbor Avron Barr gave a well-attended and -received talk, "Artificial Intelligence: A Stanford Saga," at a Stanford Alumni event in Monterey, CA on June 5.

Avron has generously agreed to allow me to share his slides with you all, attached.

Interesting presentation!
I would have liked to hear the expansions on the bullet points.

Culturally, what was under the umbrella of PARC AI projects?
Things like symbolic reasoning, NLP and expert systems seem to be there but I had the impression that neural networks (beyond perceptrons) were an ongoing field.
They seem presented later than I'd have expected.

I've been thinking a bit about some of the AI presented in books like "Paradigms of Artificial Intelligence Programming" maybe those would be fun to port.
No particular project in mind but maybe it'd be fun to retrofit some classic AI.
Medley can certainly crunch numbers and data today!

Sincerely,
Ryan
