On Mastodon it's taking place a discussion on the namespaces of Interlisp and how its features affected its role (or lack of it) in the standardization of Common Lisp. Simon Brooke misremembered and claimed Interlisp was a Lisp-1, so I provided some context. Kent Pitman commented on the namespaces of Maclisp and I noted that property lists were heavily used in early Lisp. Pitman elaborated on why symbols and property lists were used so much in Lisp and what features of Interlisp affected its role in the standardization of Common Lisp, wondering whether Larry has thoughts on this.
