Dear CHICKEN users,

We are pleased to announce the immediate availability of CHICKEN 4.12.0
at the following URL:
https://code.call-cc.org/releases/4.12.0/chicken-4.12.0.tar.gz

This tarball has the following SHA256 checksum:
605ace459bc66e8c5f82abb03d9b1c9ca36f1c2295931d244d03629a947a6989

This is mostly a bugfix release with a relatively small number of
changes, considering our focus is on CHICKEN 5. However, these
changes fix quite a few very important bugs.

The most important changes since 4.11.0 are three security fixes,
namely CVE-2016-6830, CVE-2016-6831 and CVE-2016-9954. We have
updated our copy of Irregex to upstream version 0.9.6 which fixes the
aforementioned security issue CVE-2016-9954 and a bug with how "bow"
is handled in irregex-fold. There are also three notable bug fixes in
our runtime and compiler. One fixes how "parameterize" interacts with
continuations (#1336), another prevents crashes when a garbage
collection is invoked while running an FFI callback (#1337) and another
fixes re-entering functions that are compiled to C loops after returning
from a garbage collection (#1317), which could lead to endless loops and
even incorrect computations.

For a full list of the changes since 4.11.0, see the NEWS file:

Kind regards,
The CHICKEN Team
