Happy mid-week everyone! This Saturday, 5:00 PM join me for a very special conversation with a few wonderful friends to help support Yoga Gives Back. I volunteer every year for this organization. While there are so many inspirational organizations that perform outstanding service, Yoga Gives Back holds a special place in my heart. Kayoko, the mother hen and guiding light of YGB, has brought together yogis from every corner of the world to help raise funds to support orphans and young woman who would otherwise be destined to impoverished lives of servitude and much worse. I bow to Kayoko, she embodies the heart of Seva.

SEVA - service, selfless giving, volunteering, Seva is at the heart of Karma yoga. There are three primary paths (margas) referred to in the Bhagavad Gita. Karma yoga, the yoga of action and service, Bhakti yoga, the yoga of devotion and love, and Jnana yoga, the yoga of discernment. While we each are a composite of all three, we each have a calling to one or the other. Seva can be a dharma, a destiny, a life dedicated to uplifting others.
St Fransis of Assisi turned his back on his families wealth to chose a monastic life dedicated to the practice of caring for the poor and animals. I often include his beautiful prayer in my meditations. Part of it: It is in giving that we receive, it is in pardoning that we are pardoned... and I change the last line, it is in letting go that we live in inner peace.
Mother Teresa created the and said, "There is more hunger in this world for love and appreciation than for bread."
Kayoko Mitsumatsu created Yoga Gives Back and dedicates 360 days of her life to improving the welfare of young women in India. I mean, only 5 days off, if that.

PLEASE JOIN ME ALONG WITH THE ESTEEMED DAVID SWENSON, JAI UTTAL, RICHARD FREEMAN AND MARY TAYLOR for a fireside chat on how our lives have led us to community and to one another. SPREAD THE WORD!
