This week in Los Angeles has been wonderful, commencing with the Yoga Gives Back Gala and will conclude with my workshop at the Center for Yoga. For more info:  https://centerforyogala.com/workshops/

and more on this weekend: Guruji frequently refers to an element in our practice, that we experience the practice from the periphery to the core, and from the core to the periphery. Like a pulse, we oscillate or gravitate toward the center and then disperse toward the edges. Practically speaking, asana is a shape that we take, standing, seated, supine, inverted, various relationships to gravity.
And then there are twists. We can manipulate the body into twists, some are accessible and in some we feel very wound tight. Where to position the arms, shoulder blades, what spreads, what contracts. This is peripheral, and helpful. But we can go much deeper.

There is a similar pattern of periphery to the core in and with the breath. As we inhale, we are drawn more toward the center, we take in physical oxygen. And we consume. Exhaling we release, disburse. That is the basic rhythm. What happens when we suspend the inhalation and revolve from there? Or exhale completely, the abdomen held like the string around a balloon, as the chest remains uplifted, turning from there.

We will explore upper back, lower back and mid-back twists along with supine, standing inverted and seated twists, all enveloped by breathing patterns.
This is probably not appropriate if you are on your moon cycle! Otherwise, I hope you can join me!
