Happy New Year everyone.. I rarely set intentions these days, except to recognize the value of "sitting near", of being still and listening. This is a familiar theme. In the prayer of St Francis of Assisi, he asks: "Make me an instrument of your peace../.. let me not so much seek to be understood, as to understand.. (paraphrased). In the yoga pantheon, the teachings of the Upanishads are based on students sitting near the teacher to receive spiritual knowledge. These days, everything is potentially a teacher and a Sacred space, when I sit near to myself, wait, and listen. This is my New Year's prayer. Then, there is this magnificent poem by Hafiz!
Join me this weekend at the Center for Yoga to dance a little, yoga a little, and sit near to our breath.. Call the studio to register. Masks and vaccines are required.

Hafiz:
I
sometimes forget
that
I was created for Joy.
My
mind is too busy.
My
Heart is too heavy
for
me to remember
that
I have been
called
to dance
the
Sacred dance of life.
I
was created to smile
To
Love
To
be lifted up
And
to lift others up.
O’
Sacred One
Untangle
my feet
from
all that ensnares.
Free
my soul.
That
we might
Dance
and
that our dancing
might
be contagious.
