There are moments when we just handle life, moments when life takes us through a zinger, moments of absolute absorption and contentment, and moments that just happen whether we pay attention or not. I sugar many of my moments with gratitude, knowing that you are  a part of it all. Whatever time we share is always special.

For your enjoyment, a few moments... I find Haiku to be the most "in-between" and evocative form of poetry. While there once was a particular form and meter, modern Haiku often moves beyond. See you in the New Year! May our moments together collect enough love to fill a treasure chest that can lighten the weight of the world, even a little!

Haiku:
Deep within the stream
  the huge fish lie motionless
Facing the current.               J.W.Hackett

A world of dew
and within every dewdrop
A world of struggle.            Kobayasi Issa

Winter Solstice comes
the beginning and the end
meet in darkness                Noga Shemer

A long dark tunnel
Leading to the ancestors
the Winter Solstice                  Jonathon Aylett

Fallen leaves
The abbot sweeps
Around them.                    John Brandi

I stop to listen
The cricket
Has done the same.      Arizona Zipper

Koan:
Zen Master Unmon said: "The world is vast and wide. Why do you put on your robes at the sound of a bell?"

One day as Manjusri stood outside the gate, the Buddha called to him, "Manjusri, Manjusri, why do you not enter?
Manjusri replied, "I do not see myself as outside. Why enter?
