With enough googling I've found a workaround to my problem - I'm using
the cacheable-flash plugin from pivotal labs:
http://github.com/pivotal/cacheable-flash
seems like a rather clever solution to the problem I was facing.
Maybe one day my posts will appear in the group! :)
