Hi guys,

NASA has a new tool called Worldview ( http://earthdata.nasa.gov/labs/worldview/ ) for showing MODIS imagery.
It looks like you can take a snapshot and save it as kmz, but it would be great to integrate this into an LG system.

The "About Worldview" info states that it uses Global Image Browse Services (GIBS), which apparently can support Google Earth and NASA World Wind.

Instructions for loading the GIBS data in Google Earth:

I think we'll try this on one of our 7-section systems and see how it looks!

Yeah, I got it working, but is there any way of getting all the nodes to load the network link without having to do it manually on each one?

Oh yes, absolutely. There is example code for this is part of the
"php-interface" in the git repo on http://code.google.com/p/liquid-galaxy

A crafty Googler first coded it up - basically, myplaces.kml is outfitted
with a NetworkLink that points to a cgi which returns other checksum'd
NetworkLinks to be loaded. So all the nodes just have the same starting
NetworkLink and all of them will load the same content.

As always, improvements are welcome. We're still working on ways to make
contributing as easy as possible.

Thanks

Greetings.  I represent the GIBS team and ran across this thread.  If you have any questions or requests for us re: access to imagery layers available in our system, or new NASA data sets you would like to see visualized, please reach out to us at sup...@earthdata.nasa.gov, or to me directly.

Thanks,
Matt
